The Dynamic Mural Duo

Married Roanoke muralist duo Libby and Josh Nolan-Shafer have been painting together since 2021. They’re partners in both life and work, which is pretty handy when you’re spending most of your time covered in paint. With Josh’s background in design and painting and Libby’s knack for storytelling and keeping things moving, they’ve found a solid rhythm creating art as a team.

They travel the country in their van, Captain Tyler 9000 (because every good van needs a name), painting murals and getting to know different communities along the way. From small window murals to walls the size of a football field, they take on projects of all shapes and sizes. This is the life that found them, and they’re just rolling with it—paintbrushes in hand.
